A rebrand, a refreshed experience, and a store ready for growth
We have partnered with RECENT Coffee Roasters for some time, supporting them as they have grown and refined their offer. This latest project coincided with their rebrand and marked the next step in their journey, moving from a well-regarded local roastery to a national coffee provider. The goal was to create a Shopify store that reflects who they are today, while delivering an online experience to match the quality and reputation of their coffee.

About The Project
Brewing a better customer journey
Brewing a new chapter for RECENT
With subscriptions at the heart of their business, RECENT wanted a site that made it easier than ever for customers to get their perfect coffee, exactly how they like it. This project wasn’t just about updating visuals, it was about building a digital experience that captures the craft, personality, and ambition of the brand while supporting their shift from local favourite to national contender.
The Challenge
As with many ambitious, founder-led businesses, RECENT had outgrown their existing site. It no longer represented their evolving brand, their product quality, or their growth ambitions.
They needed a store that could:
Showcase their updated brand identity and national presence
Put subscriptions at the centre of the customer journey
Deliver a smoother and more personalised buying experience
Increase average order value in a natural, customer-first way
The Solution
We redesigned the store to support RECENT’s growth and subscription-first model, keeping the experience simple for first-time customers while giving regulars the ability to customise exactly what they want.
Custom variant selectors let customers choose their preferred brew method and bag size in just a couple of clicks. We also introduced ‘Ready to roast’ indicators, which display real-time stock availability while reinforcing that every order is freshly roasted. Custom product cards highlight detailed tasting notes and blend information, and a series of upsell flows encourage customers to explore new roasts, boosting average order value.
The Outcome
The new store now reflects the RECENT of today, a growing business stepping confidently into the national market.
It is built to scale, supports their subscription-led model, and provides an online experience that strengthens loyalty and encourages higher-value purchases. For brands ready to expand beyond their local roots, it shows how aligning a website with both brand identity and customer needs can be a catalyst for growth.
